The 4 Key Dimensions Every Boat Owner Needs
To sketch out a perfect layout for your custom boat bedding, grab a flexible construction tape measure or a fabric measuring tape, remove your current blankets, and record these five crucial dimensions:
- A — Head Width (The Top Widest Section)
Measure straight across the widest part of the mattress, usually where your pillows rest. Be sure to measure the maximum flat surface from the left edge to the right edge. - B — Foot Width (The Nose / Toe Section)
Move to the narrowest part at the bow end of the bed. Some V-berths taper all the way to a sharp "V" point, while others have a small flat section known as a nose or a clipped foot. Measure the exact width of this flat nose block. - C — Overall Center Line Length (Top to Bottom)
Find the exact midpoint of your Head Width (A) and measure a straight line down the absolute center of the mattress all the way to the midpoint of the Foot Width (B). This gives us the total vertical length of your sleeping surface. - D — Mattress Thickness (Pocket Depth)
